2 Atlantic City Police Officers Assaulted While Making Arrest
Two Atlantic City Police Officers were assaulted as they responded to an armed robbery call this morning.
Atlantic City Police Officials say at 6:44am Officers Jesse Oliver-Logan and Daniel Kramer were investigated an armed robbery report at the Fox Manor Motel on Pacific Avenue.
The caller stated that a suspect was armed with a handgun and was in the stairwell.
A report of the arrests states:
The officers entered the motel went to the stairwell where they saw Walter Washington. Washington immediately shoved Officer Oliver-Logan against a wall and attempted to run away. The officers were able to grab on to Washington and prevent his escape. Washington refused to be arrested and resisted arrest. After a struggle, Washington was placed in custody.
Washington was found to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana. He was not identified as the suspect in the armed robbery. The 911 caller could not be located. During the arrest, Officers Oliver-Logan and Kramer sustained minor injuries and were treated and released from the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.
Washington, 27, is from Atlantic City. He's being held in the Atlantic County Jail on the following charges: "Two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS)(cocaine and marijuana), possession with the intent to distribute (cocaine), possession with the intent to distribute CDS within 1000 feet of a school zone, and possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone."
