No good deed goes unpunished.  Two brothers from New Jersey learned that the hard way.

Chris Schmidt and David Schmidt paid $210 for the 22-pound lobster in an effort to save it from being someone's dinner.  The brothers let the crustacean go in the warm waters off of Cape Cod last week.

Two days later, a fisherman found the huge lobster dead.

NJ.com says the water was likely too warm.,

A marine expert told the Cape Cod Times, Big Lobi most likely didn't survive because the water off Chatham was too warm.

The brothers named the lobster Big Lobi after Red Sox star David Ortiz.
