Tuesday's potent thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts are long gone, and New Jersey will enjoy a beautiful summer day on Wednesday.

Here are your weather headlines for Wednesday, June 24, 2015...

Quiet, Sunny, Dry, Warm, Less Humid

After yesterday's ferocious thunderstorms, we deserve a nice weather day!

All week, I've been calling today the "weather winner of the week" and it looks like that characterization will come true. We've seen some early morning clouds and wind gusts up to about 20 mph along the Jersey Shore. Skies will continue to clear, with sunshine and blue skies dominating New Jersey's weather today. Even more importantly, humidity levels have plummeted behind an overnight cold front.

So yesterday's steamy, tropical weather conditions are gone, and we're left with a gorgeous summer day to enjoy. Look for nice, warm high temperatures today in the lower to mid 80s.

The Next Round of Rain

Even though Thursday will start out with some solid sunshine, increasing clouds will signal a transition to more active, unsettled weather through the rest of the week. As a low pressure system crosses New Jersey, we'll see some showers and thunderstorms develop. At the moment, the best timing for this system looks to be late in the day Thursday - late afternoon and evening. While I don't expect widespread severe weather, limited instability could still lead to a few rumbles of thunder and locally heavy downpours. Widespread rainfall amounts up to about an inch should be expected Thursday evening and overnight.

Clouds will stick around for Friday, keeping temperatures a bit cooler, in the upper 70s to about 80 degrees. While skies look mostly dry, a few showers are popping up on the models for Friday, so an umbrella may or may not be necessary.

Wet Weekend?

Ugh. Another summer weekend, and another less-than-ideal weather forecast. Another low pressure will push right over New Jersey starting around Saturday afternoon. That storm system looks to produce periods of steady rain through Saturday afternoon, evening, and overnight all the way through Sunday morning. We'll hopefully see some degree of clearing and drying skies by Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, the clouds and the rain will keep temperatures on the cool side, with highs held to the 70s for both weekend days. Not really pretty for late June. At least severe weather chances will be low.

Of course, it's only Wednesday, leaving plenty of time for the weekend rain chances to shift earlier or later. But I do fear that parts of this weekend will be washed out for much of the state. Stay tuned.
