A Taste of Revel
This past weekend marked the first annual “Taste of Revel.” In conjunction with FOOD & WINE magazine, Revel Resorts held food and drink themed events all weekend. I was lucky enough to score tickets to Sunday’s “Pig Out” event. Joe Kelly went to a different event this weekend, too. Check out his review HERE.
The event I went to included a whole roasted pig by Jose Garces. Then the chefs of Revel restaurants made a different dish using the roasted pork. There were about 15 different dishes to try. And there was wine that was paired by renowned sommelier Anthony Giglio.
The event was held on Revel’s Cabana level outdoors. It was cloudy, windy and chilly, but that didn’t stop us. It was a great Sunday of eating and drinking!
This dish was called a Hawaiian pork bun from One. It was one of my favorites.
But this was my favorite dish! It was a pork meatball on top of cheesy grits and rice crispies. It was so good, I went back for seconds. Yum.
And then there was Jose Garces, he’s pictured above in the black jacket and sunglasses. I was star struck. It’s funny that I can meet Carrie Underwood, talk to Jason Aldean and not bat an eye, but put me in front of a chef that I adore and I get really, really shy…. So, I pretended I was taking a picture of my husband and secretly snapped this photo of Jose Garces! I’m such a dork. I should have just introduced myself to him, he seemed like a cool guy.
Despite the weather, the venue was cool, the food was fantastic and the wine was perfect. I hope Revel makes this an annual event!
