ACCC Campus Evacuated Yesterday

Another reminder to not be stupid on Twitter.

Atlantic Cape Community College’s campus in Cape May County was closed and evacuated yesterday afternoon after the above tweet was detected by school officials. Following a search by Middle Township Police, the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, and law enforcement officials with the Delaware River Bay Authority, nothing suspicious was found and the campus opened normally this morning.

The Twitter user, who hasn’t tweeted since posting that message, apparently needs a reminder that people and organizations take all threats seriously. The investigation continues into what may, or may not, have been just an off-the-cuff remark.
