A preliminary investigation by police found a pick-up truck being driven by 33-year-old Anthony Linda of Estell Manor was traveling westbound on the Black Horse Pike when he disregarded the red light. Linda's truck hit a car being driven by Jason Michaelson of Egg Harbor Township and a Jeep Wrangler being driven by Peter Huizar of Mays Landing. Both of those vehicles were traveling southbound on English Creek Avenue, crossing the Black Horse Pike.

The impact caused Linda's pick-up truck through the intersection where it left the road and struck a utility box that controls the traffic light. The impact also caused Michaelson's car to strike another car, driven by Kim Tran of Mays Landing, which was in the left turn lane of the eastbound Black Horse Pike. That car was then pushed into another car waiting in the turn lane, being driven by Audrey Ward of Mays Landing.

Jason Michaelson was entrapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company. Michaelson was treated at the scene by AtlantiCare paramedics and the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and taken to ARMC-City with moderate injuries. EHT Police have issued a summons to Linda for disregarding the traffic signal.
