One state senator wants to let people in Atlantic City drink on the beach and Boardwalk.

Senate republican leader Tom Kean sent a letter to Jon Hansen today, who Governor Christie has tasked with coordinating efforts to help Atlantic City. In the letter, Kean listed several suggestions, including better airline service to Atlantic City, tax incentives for big-time entertainment, and establishing a cruise ship port here. Kean also said Atlantic City should let people carry open containers of alcohol on the boardwalk and beach -- that would, in theory, make it easier for people to walk from one casino to another. Some large tourist cities like Key West, Las Vegas, and New Orleans either allow open containers of alcohol or police only go after people grossly violating the law.
