A man was shot and killed Wednesday evening in the Woodlands Condominiums in Mays Landing - less than a week after 2 men were shot outside the Hamilton Mall - less than a mile away.

According to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton, Hamilton Police responded to a call just after 6:30pm yesterday on Ivy Bush Court.

Upon arrival, officers found an Atlantic County man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly pronounced dead at the scene. His identify has not yet been made public.

According to Ruberton,

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department Detective Bureau continue the investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7666. Witnesses may also contact the Hamilton Township Police Department at (609) 625-2700.

Meanwhile, the Press of Atlantic City is reporting that yesterday's shooting may have been the result of a gang "turf war":

“This is not a Woodlands incident. This is a turf war moving into Atlantic County, from what I understand from authorities in the county,” Robert Greaney, president of the condominium association board told The Press of Atlantic City at the scene Wednesday night. “This is an inherently safe community.”

Jay McKeen, a spokesman for acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton, declined to comment about the resident’s “turf war” statement.
