Applications Now Being Accepted for Trip to Mars

If you love to travel, this may be for you: The Mars One Project is now taking applications for people who'd like to take a trip to Mars.

Really!

Applications are now being accepted for the first trip, scheduled for 2022. The goal of the project is to establish a permanent settlement on the Red Planet. You must be at least 18 years of age to qualify.

Oh, there's a catch.

It's one way. Gulp. Yep, they'll send you there, but they won't bring you back.

The Mars One Project leaders are looking for people who have these qualities: resiliency, adaptability, curiosity, ability to trust and creativity / resourcefulness. Those interested in applying are urged to strongly consider their answer to this question: "What does it mean for you to leave Earth and not be able to come back?" Yeah, that's a big one.

So far, since applications began being accepted on Tuesday, 10,000 people have shown interest in submitting an application. That's a lot of people who want to leave and not come back!

I'm not sure if you have to apply yourself, or you can nominate other people you'd like to see leave this planet.
