This thing was sitting on my car window this morning.

I went to leave for work this morning and this giant bug was sitting on my car. I'm assuming its some type of moth or something. The picture doesn't really do its size justice -- it was almost the size of Delaware. It was so big that I didn't want to try brushing it off because, knowing my luck, it would fly right towards me and I would scream like a 3-year-old. It eventually flew away and will scare one of my neighbors tomorrow morning.

Is it just me or are bugs here in South Jersey getting weirder and bigger? I don't ever remember seeing things like this flying around when I was a kid. The weirdest thing I remember growing up were those walking stick insects.

Anyway, getting back to mega-moth here, it was really cool to look at (again, I'm saying that because it didn't try flying at me) -- a cool white and light green color. And after a little research, I believe this is a Luna Moth, which are commonly used in classrooms to teach about the life cycles of butterflies and their role in the environment. They are also one of the largest moths in North America (I told you it was the size of Delaware).

Pretty cool!
