50-year-old Jose Rivera of Atlantic City is facing charges after cops say he committed two robberies in the city.

On Monday morning, officers responded to a laundromat on South Florida Avenue for the report of a robbery. According to a press release, a 74-year-old woman was punched and kicked in the face by a suspect armed with a screwdriver. The victim, who had money and a cell phone stolen, was taken to ARMC-City for treatment. The suspect fled the area before cops arrived.

On Tuesday, cops identified Rivera as the suspect in the robbery and he was arrested in the beach block of Bellevue Avenue.

A continuing investigation identified Rivera as the suspect in an unsolved robbery that happened back on February 8th. In that case, cops say Rivera was inside the La Tipica convenience store at 2500 Arctic Avenue when he attempted to steal some items. When he was confronted by an employee, Rivera assaulted the worker and fled the store.

Rivera has been charged with two counts of robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
