Atlantic City Singer Captures Texaco Country Showdown

Thirteen local singers competed in Cat Country's Texaco Country Showdown Saturday at Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing.

The winner was Lucy Malia of Atlantic City! Lucy will now advance to the State Finals - which is a combination of local winners from New Jersey and Pennsylvania - on September 29th, at Hershey Park, in Hershey Pennsylvania.

Runner-up was Ashley Christman of Mays Landing, while Danielle Rivera of Galloway place third.

While the ballots were counted, the audience was treated with a couple of songs from Dave Hangley. Hangley competed in the Cat Country local showdown two years ago, and has now gone on to sign a recording contract, and record a CD with NNS Records of Linwood, NJ. The album was produced by noted Nashville producer and writer, Jim Allison, who also served as one of the judges of the competition.

Personally, I thought all the singers did a fantastic job!
