It’s nothing new to hear of a country star bringing a special guest onstage to help with a song — in fact, it happens all the time. But sometimes said stars pull adorable little girls out of the audience to help them finish out their set at the Opry, and that’s an entirely different story. At his sold-out Grand Ole Opry show on Friday (March 9), Keith Urban did just that, adding a giant dose of adorable to the end of his performance.
When a high school kid takes the country by storm on ‘American Idol’ and skyrockets into the realm of major headlining tours and celebrity status, it’s easy to forget that they’re still what they were before — a high school kid. ‘Idol’ champ Scotty McCreery is reclaiming a bit of his before-the-fame life, having recently rejoined his high school baseball team, stepping up as a pitcher for the Garner Trojans in Garner, N.C.
In 2006, Chris Young was just another contestant on ‘Nashville Star.’ Later that year, he was just the kid releasing a debut album in hopes that people would pick it up and give it a spin. In 2009, he was the guy dropping his second studio album with RCA Records, and after that, he became the country star who has been watching his songs claim the No.1 spot on the Billboard charts — over and over again.
ABC Drama is filming a pilot for a new show titled ‘Nashville,’ which will of course revolve around the life of a 40-year-0ld fictional country superstar who’s struggling with a dip in her career, trying to stay afloat in the industry. But, before you roll your eyes and claim you’ve seen this show one too many times, there’s one thing you have to know: Playing the part of Rayna James, the fading country star, will be none other than the beloved Connie Britton, best known for her role as the understanding yet sassy mom on ‘Friday Night Lights.’
While the stereotypical groom is content to do his part in the marriage proposal and leave the dirty planning details to the bride-to-be, Lady Antebellum‘s Dave Haywood said in a recent interview with People that he’s enjoying the process of making arrangements for the big day.
Today, the Academy of Country Music announced an additional star-studded lineup of performers for the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which will take place the evening of Sunday, April 1. Included in the newly-unrolled cast of country greats are Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Chris Young, the Band Perry and Rascal Flatts. Arguably one of the biggest nights in country music, second only to the CMAs, the awards show will be broadcast live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand.
Trace Adkins has made his share of video and television appearances. The ‘You’re Gonna Miss This’ singer recently said that he’d like to costar in a film with fellow country talent Blake Shelton. And while we haven’t yet had the opportunity of seeing Shelton on the big screen, the Boot just released a new clip of the most recent Trace Adkins film, ‘Wyatt Earp’s Revenge,’ which you can view below.
May would be a pretty nice time to be a celebrity, since you might have the chance to head out to the Atlantis in the Bahamas and take a swing at the 11th annual Michael Douglas & Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament. Taking place May 25-27, the televised golf tournament will take place at the Ocean Club Golf Course and will raise money for two great organizations.
Billboard released their official ‘Music’s Top Money Makers 2012‘ list yesterday (March 9) and sitting atop the celebrity-packed lineup was none other than country pop princess Taylor Swift. With a mind-boggling $35 million takeaway from 2011, Swift is sitting pretty just above some huge names — U2 came in second with $32 million — due primarily to her ‘Speak Now’ record and the accompanying world tour.
Earlier this week, Eric Church and his band set out to film a video for Church’s ‘Springsteen,’ the third single from his Grammy-nominated record, ‘Chief.’ The country hitmaker officially released the single at the beginning of this year, and now he’s working on the music video to accompany it. But for the filming, he didn’t block off Broadway in Nashville or rent out the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. In fact, according to CMTT, Church was spotted shooting the video in a neighborhood setting in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Since November, Rodney Atkins has been embroiled in a bitter marital dispute that is in the process of ending in a divorce. The country singer was arrested Nov. 21 after his wife called 911 accusing her husband of trying to smother her with a pillow, among other things. The ‘Take a Back Road’ singer was taken into custody and then released on a $2,500 bail and in February was acquitted from the charges.
It’s a bromance made in heaven. The tall, handsome cowboy who’s hesitant to show his soft side meets the artistic, brooding rocker who wears his feelings like a name tag. No, it’s not the preview for another terrible made-for-TV movie — it’s the man crush action happening between Blake Shelton and his fellow ‘The Voice‘ coach Adam Levine. If you’ve watched the show, you’ve seen the sparks flying from that first red chair to that fourth one. And in a recent interview with MTV, the country star opened up and admitted his feelings.
