In the aftermath of a disaster it's natural to see neighbor helping neighbor. It's also natural for the criminal to prowl.

We've already heard of looting arrests. Now comes word of fake FEMA agents.

Harry Hurley, from our sister radio station, WPG 1450AM, is reporting that the there have already been people in Ventnor posing as FEMA agents. Accoring to Hurley:

Mayor Mike Bagnell confirmed that a legitimate FEMA representative will be wearing a blue shirt, with proper FEMA emblem. They will show clear identification. A legitimate FEMA representative will never ask a resident for personal information, such as social security number, credit card information, etc.

Mayor Bagnell has asked that a resident that encounters a suspicious activity in this regard to immediately report it to the Ventnor City Police Department at (609) 823-7900.

Residents are are also encouraged to call FEMA directly at 1-800-621-FEMA if they have any questions or concerns.
