Early ’90s hitmaker Billy Dean received horrible news while on tour with Kenny Rogers shortly before Christmas. His 1,500-square foot barn burned to the ground after a fire started on Dean Acres, his farm in Smithville, Tenn., a small town located 65 miles east of Nashville.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the blaze, but the barn held a number of items cherished by the ‘We Just Disagree’ singer. There was his fishing boat and a tractor, but also a career’s worth of cherished mementos and master recordings.

“I lost a lot things that were very meaningful to me, but no one was hurt and that’s really all that matters at the end of the day,” Dean said in a press release. “We’ll rebuild, but I’m really going to miss that tractor and fishing boat this spring.”

Dean hasn’t announced how he’ll hold the events scheduled at Dean Acres — like his 50th birthday bash in March — but says he won’t let the fire displace anyone, including himself. Dean scored 10 Top 10 hits in the ’90s and early 2000s.
