When I talked  with Blake Shelton before he stepped on the stage of the Atlantic City Beach yesterday, he was truly in awe of the amount of people in the crowd.

While it's certain that it wasn't the biggest crowd he's played for, it was A LOT OF PEOPLE! Crowd estimates have ranged from well over 60,000 to over 100,000 - including those who were on the boardwalk and didn't even make it onto the beach.

One of the reasons for throwing the concerts on the beach, according to the Alliance and city officials was to show that Atlantic City can be more than slots and table games. The other reason was to put "head in the beds": fill up the casinos and local hotels with overnight guests.

Mission Accomplished.

For all practical purposes, it was an awesome event, top to bottom. The planning and behind the scenes hard work paid off with an A+ event provided.

The choice of Blake Shelton to do the first concert was an absolute winner. A singer whose career has blasted off in the last few years proved entertaining, engaging, and even a little humble. (And, you could say he kicked ass on stage.]

From a lot of people I talked to before the show, many out-of-towners were planning to stay in Atlantic City through Sunday for the Lady Antebellum concert.

Again, mission accomplished!
