Following the release of a brand-new single on Tuesday morning (March 8), Blake Shelton wasted no time announcing a full album. The country star will release his new project, If I'm Honest, in May.

According to a press release, Shelton's upcoming record is set for release on May 20, on Warner Music Nashville. A track listing, album cover and other details are not yet available, but Shelton says, "This is the most excited I’ve been about a new album since the release of my second record."

In early February, Shelton revealed that his new disc will feature a collaboration with the Oak Ridge Boys; both acts shared photos of themselves together in the studio, with Shelton calling the recording session "literally magic."

Shelton's new single, "Came Here to Forget," was written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan and although the singer didn't write the tune himself, he calls it “a direct look into my life.” The song, with lines such as, “Girl, you gettin’ over him, and I’m gettin’ over her / The eyes have it made, ain’t gotta say a word,” and, “Go ahead and check your phone like I’ve been checkin’ mine / Nobody’s ex is texting for a rewind," may as well have been written about Shelton's recent divorce from Miranda Lambert and new romance with Gwen Stefani.

“I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons … I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, and that’s put all I’ve gone through and put it into music, and I never felt more connected to a record before,” Shelton explains. “When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”
