A Saturday house fire did significant damage to the home of a Ventnor firefighter and his family.

Fred and Megan Nahas and their two children were not home at the time of the blaze, and no one was injured. However, the family lost most of their possessions and one of the two family dogs in the fire.

The Press of Atlantic City is reporting the fire, which began about 2pm Saturday, did extensive damage to the back of the home, which had been newly remodeled.

By Sunday night, no cause of the fire had been released.

Within hours of the fire, a Go Fund Me page had been established to help the family rebuild their home. By 9pm Sunday, the donations to the page totaled over $13,000 of a posted $15,000 goal.
