A sad update to the story of a missing Sea Tow captain.  New Jersey State Police have confirmed that the body found on an Ocean City beach this morning is that of David McAuliffe, who has been missing since last Tuesday.

NBC 40 confirmed the news,

"The Egg Harbor Township man has been missing since last Tuesday, when the boat he was piloting, The Cape Hatteras, sank near the Great Egg Habor Inlet.  The sunken boat was found days later, but McAuliffe had still not been located.

Authorities say McAuliffe's family members were on the beach Wednesday morning after being notified about the discovery of the body, which has been taken for an autopsy by the Medical Examiner."

The Press of Atlantic City confirmed the sad news as well,

"State Police have confirmed a male body  found in Ocean City today is that of Sea Tow boat captain David McAuliffe.

Police made the official confirmation after 12:40 p.m and said the cause of death was  drowning and the manner of death was accidental."

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
