An Egg Harbor Township motel has been deemed "structurally unsound" after a car crashed into it just before noon Wednesday morning. The driver of that car is now facing numerous charges.

Egg Harbor Township Police say a car being driven by 25-year-old Bernadette McDaniels of Little Egg Harbor Township was traveling eastbound on Tilton Road around 11:30 Wednesday morning when the driver lost control, crossed the road, and crashed into the side of the Rex Motel, causing significant damage to the building's structure. Police say McDaniel's 4-year-old daughter was in the car with her at the time of the accident.

An investigation revealed McDaniels was impaired and she was taken into custody and charged with multiple motor vehicle violations relating to the crash, child endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 and McDaniels was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending court.

The Egg Harbor Township Building Inspector responded to the scene and deemed the Rex Motel to be structurally unsound as a result of the impact. The crash and subsequent DWI investigation is being handled EHT officers.
