Car-Jacking Thwarted By Good Samaritans at Hamilton Mall

An attempted car-jacking in the Hamilton Mall parking lot was thwarted New Year's Eve when a witness interceded.

According to Hamilton Township police, a call came in at 5:45pm Tuesday, reporting that an attempted car-jacking was taking place. A man was trying to force himself into a van.

While police were in route, they were updated that a witness had intervened and was chasing the suspect. A call from another witness provided police with a description of the person.

When police arrived on the scene, they arrested Willie White Jr., 52, of Absecon, charging him with Attempted Car Jacking, Criminal Restraint and Simple Assault. White is being held at the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

There were no injuries reported.
