Fans will have to wait only three more months for Carrie Underwood‘s new album. The singer announced today that she’ll release the still untitled project on May 1. This is Underwood’s fourth studio album, and it will feature to the to-be-released single ‘Good Girl.’

Billboard first reported the news on Thursday morning. A press release indicates that Underwood is sticking with a formula that works by tapping Mark Bright to once again produce the project. He’s worked with the superstar on each of her first three multi-platinum albums.

This weekend, look for Underwood and Steven Tyler during a special Super Bowl edition of ‘CMT Crossroads.’ Later this month, she’ll appear at the Grammy Awards (Feb. 12) and at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.

The new album is the follow-up to 2009′s ‘Play On.’ That album won an American Music Award and an American Country Award. It also featured three No. 1 singles and ‘Mama’s Song,’ which peaked at No. 2. Underwood had a hand in writing seven of the 13 tracks from ‘Play On,’ and it looks like she’s been busy writing for this new project as well, having co-written ‘Good Girl.’
