Our old friend Danny Feltwell is facing cancer again, and with the prayers from those who know Danny's story, he can count on having all the encouragement he can use.

Danny is a fourth grader from Margate who has had a relapse in his cancer battle and is hospitalized at A.I. DuPont in Delaware for treatment.

When I first wrote about Danny Feltwell in January 2012,  3-year-old Danny was already a year in to an aggressive chemotherapy treatment plan to combat T-cell lymphoblastic non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He spent most of his first year fighting the cancer hospitalized due to complications from the chemotherapy.

After hearing Danny's story at the Margate New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge in 2012, I tracked down his father and developed a friendship and a deep admiration for a man in a really tough situation.

Dan Feltwell is a single parent and Danny’s sole caregiver. Dan had taken a leave of absence from his job to care for Danny. The family has dealt with enormous difficulties, financially and emotionally.

Danny completed his treatment successfully at the time and all were hopeful that's where Danny's cancer story would end. Unfortunately, Danny's cancer journey is not over.

Danny loves football, so few things could make him happier than hearing from one of the stars of the Philadelphia Eagles.

That's exactly what happened Tuesday, when Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, who had heard about Danny's situation from a family friend, reached out in this video message to wish the boy well.

This makes me smile, but more importantly, it made Danny smile.
