“Coal Miners Daughter” was recorded by Loretta Lynn on October 1st, 1969. This song, which tells the story of her life growing up on a hill in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, was released in the middle of a career hot streak — over 30 of Lynn’s songs were top ten hits in a 12 year span covering the mid 196s through the mid 1970s.
