"If We Make It Through December" was one of Haggard's biggest hits -- it spent four weeks at the number one spot on the country music charts in December, 1973, and January, 1974. Billboard magazine ranked it the second biggest country song of 1974, a year that had some big hits from Dolly Parton, Charlie Rich, Ronnie Milsap, and Waylon Jennings.
