WARNING: This video contains graphic scene of a police officer shooting a dog.

In Hawthorne, California, 52-year-old Leon Rosby was one of many spectators who witnessed police carrying on a response to an armed robbery.

Rosby was with his dog, a 130-pound Rottweiler named Max. Rosby proceeded to capture some of the happenings on his cell phone camera.

At one point, officers approached Rosby about the loud music coming from his vehicle, and proceeded to arrest Rosby for obstructing an investigation.

As Rosby is placed in handcuffs, his dog, Max,  jumps out of the back seat of the car, and approaches the officers, who are apprehending Rosby. As Max leaps at an officer, her is shot several times.

Rosby reportedly is pursuing legal action against the Hawthorne Police Department for killing his dog.
