A Coast Guard helicopter crew came to the aid of a 67-year-old man and his dog after their 12-foot skiff ran aground in waters off Brigantine this weekend.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, had been out hunting with the dog on Saturday. He called Brigantine police Saturday night to report that he couldn’t get the skiff out of the marsh in Hammock Cove due to the low tide.

Watch standers at Coast Guard Station Atlantic City were notified, and the helicopter crew soon arrived on scene. The man and his dog were then hoisted into the helicopter and flown to the air station, where his family members awaited.

Officials said the man and his dog were in good condition, but did not disclose further details.
