David Nail’s ‘Let It Rain’ and ‘Red Light’ Reach Gold Certification
David Nail‘s new favorite color just might be gold, seeing as how two of his hit singles — ‘Let It Rain’ and ‘Red Light’ — both have just been certified gold by the RIAA, which gives virtual bling to tunes which garner downloads exceeding 500,000 copies.
The success of ‘Let It Rain,’ which became Nail’s first chart-topping hit, helped bump sales of his first baby, ‘Red Light,’ in the recent weeks. While ‘Red Light’ was Nail’s breakthrough hit at country radio in 2009, the song only just broke the Top 10, settling for good a couple slots shy of the Top 5. ‘Let It Rain’ was an instant hit with fans and radio, however, to the point where the song stayed alive on air for close to a year before it topped the charts in January.
“It was funny to see ‘Red Light’ starting to pick up downloads again,” says Nail in a statement following the announcement of his gold certifications. “I think when people heard or bought ‘Let It Rain,’ they went back and found it. It makes me feel good that the songs I’ve recorded have staying power. It’s not just about being a hit, but it’s the moments the songs contain being kind of timeless.”
