Dick Clark was a man that tied fans of all genres of music together, so the news of his death is a hard pill to swallow for many. For almost 40 years, fans of rock, rap, pop and country music would tune in to watch “America's oldest teenager” count in the new year. Hundreds of celebrities and musicians worldwide have been touched by his presence, his advice or by an opportunity he provided as executive producer and host of so many television shows.

Country stars like Billy Ray Cyrus, Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts and Jerrod Niemann were a few of the the first to hear the sad news and share their condolences and sorrows via Twitter. More will be added to this list throughout the afternoon and early evening, but one thing is for sure: 2013 won't begin as sweetly without that 82-year-old smile wishing us well.
