A guilty plea yesterday in Atlantic County Superior Court, as an Egg Harbor Township man admitted shooting a killing a man in a motel room back in 2013.

Randall C. Scott, 22, pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter for the shooting death of Curtis Watson, 30.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain,

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police responded to the
Courtesy Inn Motel, 2580 Tilton Road, for a 9-1-1 report of shots fired.
Upon arrival on scene, Egg Harbor Township Police and Atlantic County SWAT locked
down the shooting scene, and conducted a search.
Curtis Watson, 20, of Pleasantville, was found inside a motel room, dead of gunshot
wounds.
An investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the
Egg Harbor Township Police Department led to the arrest at the scene of Randall Scott,
then 20-years-old.
Scott was charged with murder and weapons offenses, and was lodged at the Atlantic
County Justice Facility in lieu of $1 million cash bail, set by Atlantic County Superior
Court Judge Mark H. Sandson.
On June 26, 2014, Scott was indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury for murder and
weapons offenses.
Scott pled guilty to 1st degree aggravated manslaughter, in accordance with a
plea agreement that includes incarceration in New Jersey State Prison for 16 years.

Pursuant to the No Early Release Act (NERA), Scott must serve 85% of the prison term—13 years, 7 months, and 6 days—before becoming eligible for parole.
Sentencing before Judge Donio is scheduled for April 17, 2015.
