It was a close call for a 92-year-old fisherman who had to be rescued by the Coast Guard off the coast of Atlantic City Sunday.

The boat Fish Finder II was approximately five miles east of Atlantic City when the man on board began experiencing cardiac trouble, according to Coast Guard Station AC.

Captain Michael Doebley tells Press of Atlantic City the boat was out looking for striped bass when the man in question fell ill.

A rescue boat launched and met the fishing vessel and brought the man back to shore, who was transported to Atlantic Care Medical Center in Atlantic City where he remains  stable. We're thankful for emergency responders who reached the man in time.
