Escaped Prisoner Captured In Mays Landing

Following an all-night and all-day manhunt, 38-year-old Shane Hopkins, who escaped from the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing yesterday, is back in custody.

Shane Hopkins was found near Old Egg Harbor Road and Route 50 in Mays Landing around 4:30 this afternoon, where he was taken into custody without incident.

The manhunt started around 8:00 last night and involved numerous local and county police departments and the New Jersey State Police.

Due to the proximity of the manhunt, Atlantic Cape Community College was locked-down for a time this afternoon; operations at the college are now returning to normal.
