Additional Information

An ex-athlete is waiting to be welcomed into a loving home. There’s a greater need to place ex-racing greyhounds into permanent homes than at any point in recent history as a result of greyhound racetrack closings across the country.

April is National-Adopt-a-Greyhound Month and the perfect time to adopt a gentle companion into your home. Thousands of greyhounds are being cared for by adoption groups now.

Please help ensure that all these wonderful dogs find homes by visiting thegreyhoundproject.org for information on adoption in your area.

“Greyhounds make great pets, companions and are gentle 40-mile per hour couch potatoes,” said past president of The Greyhound Project Michael McCann. “The need to move these dogs to non-racing states is more critical than ever with upcoming and recent racing track closings. Costs associated with accomplishing this present a real challenge. National Adopt-a-Greyhound month is the perfect time to welcome an ex-athlete into your dog-loving family.”

The Greyhound Project works to support over 300 greyhound adoption groups nationwide. The charity also publishes Celebrating Greyhounds, an award-winning quarterly magazine written for greyhound adopters, owners, and supporters.
