Mega Pet Adoption Event

The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) is hosting SJ’s second Mega Adoption Event on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and September 29, 2013, at the Moorestown PetSmart.  Eleven (11) animal welfare rescues and shelters will join together under a giant tent to adopt out 250 dogs and cats in two days. Hundreds of dogs and cats of all ages and breeds will be at the event looking for their ‘fur-ever’ homes.  The goal is to find homes for 250 plus animals.  There will be 350 plus animals available for adoption that weekend. By finding home for 250 animals,  this will free space to save 250 more homeless animals. There will be prizes, entertainment, giveaways and more!

“Our first MEGA Adoption Event last October was a MEGA SUCCESS! We saved over 282 dogs and cats in one weekend that we had to do it again,” says Nicole Dubois, Assistant Director of Shelter Services, “This year we are prepared to find wonderful loving homes for even more homeless pets.”  “This year’s Mega Adoption Event theme is baseball,” says Maya Richmond, Executive Director of the Animal Welfare Association, “we know all of the pets at the event will be stealing hearts and sliding for home. There will be no strike outs when it comes to finding your next best friend.”

Mega Adoption Events are gaining popularity across the county as a way to save many homeless animals from euthanasia.  Between 300 and 400 pets will be available for adoption.   Events like this benefit all area shelters. By adopting out 250 in one weekend, that is 250 success stories,” says Dubois, “Two hundred fifty (250) adopted pets equals one full month of adoptions at AWA’s adoption center in Voorhees or Camden County Animal Shelter in Blackwood.”  Richmond shares, “We need everyone’s help spreading the word to make the weekend a Grand Slam Victory for needy pets.”  Visit www.awanj.org  for details and to download a poster.  Looking for love has never been easier; Play, Catch, ADOPT!
