Everyone's worst nightmare has been realized. No, not the world coming to an end. Flu season is back in the region and we're not ready.

So, in a way, it is like the end of the world (if you contract it, that is).

NJ.com reports that now is the time to head to the doctor's or your pharmacy to get this year's flu shot. Last year's was basically useless, but the experts think they've nailed it with this year's strain of the virus. Get the vaccine sooner rather than later so you're not dealing with the ridiculousness people faced last year.

Last year was the worst flu season in the past FOUR DECADES. According to NJ.com, 20,000 people in NJ alone were infected. Two children died due to flu complications!

There's no way to predict exactly which strain of the virus will run rampant, but the CDC says it's better to be safe than sorry. Basically, they're encouraging you to get it anyway.

There is a reason to celebrate, though. If you can't do the whole needle-stick thing, the nasal spray has made a comeback!
