Former Millville high school standout baseball player Aaron Cox has passed away at the age of 24, the Angels announced in a statement today.

Cox was the brother-in-law of Mike Trout, and a former minor league pitcher in the Angels system. Cox had recently retired from professional baseball earlier this summer.

Here is a statement from Trout and his wife Jessica, who is the sister of Cox.

Cox was drafted out of Gannon University, by the Angels in the 19th round back in the 205 MLB Draft.  Over his minor league career, Cox went 7-3 with a 3.64 ERA and 12 saves.

This season he was 0-1 with a 4.11 ERA and two saves in 11 games before retiring.

As a senior at Millville, Cox went 5-0 with two saves and a 0.67 earned run average, threw a complete-game, and was winning pitcher in the programs only South Jersey Group IV Championship.
