Governor Christie is once calling on Jersey lawmakers in the Assembly and State Senate to eliminate cash payouts for retiring State workers who don’t use their sick days.

During a visit to the Teaneck National Guard Armory, the Governor, who was flanked by several North Jersey Mayors, said the total liability for such payouts in the Garden State is 825 million dollars – money that is supplied by taxpayers.

Christie called on the Legislature to pass a sick pay reform measure during the lame-duck session, which lasts another month.

Democrats have proposed capping sick day payouts at 75 hundred dollars per State worker – but the Governor says that is 75 hundred dollars too much.
