We had to change plans on the fly because a planned Saturday lunch at Fred & Ethel's Restaurant in Smithville didn't happen. We made it inside the front door before seeing the looooong line of people waiting to be seated.

So, we left the historic village and checked in at JD's Pub, just down Route 9 in the Smithville Shopping Center. I hadn't been there in years, and we really didn't know what to expect.

My wife and I both ordered the cheeseburger, both medium rare. We each also added steak fries.

I have to say, for $8.49, it was a great burger! Fresh and cooked perfectly, and served on a tasty bun, it's the best burger I've had for under ten bucks in a long time! The tomato, lettuce, and onion were all fresh. The steak fries were excellent, too!

Our only disappointment at JD's: we tried to order a couple frozen strawberry daiquiris, but the waitress said they didn't make them, because "we don't have a blender." Hmm.... I would think a full-service bar and restaurant would have a blender!

Well, again, the under $10 burger was great. If you're looking for a nice, filling lunch JD's in Smithville might be worth a try!
