Tonight has been a great night for country crooner Jason Aldean and his pop counterpart Kelly Clarkson! Following their win for Vocal Event of the Year, Aldean and Clarkson took home yet another trophy at the 2012 ACM Awards for ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ when they snagged the award for Single Record of the Year.

In the Single Record of the Year category at the 2012 ACM Awards, the duo were up against Eli Young Band (‘Crazy Girl’), Toby Keith (‘Red Solo Cup’), Chris Young (‘Tomorrow’) and Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter (‘You and Tequila’). Fresh off his performance of ‘Fly Over States,’ Aldean kissed his wife as his name was announced as the winner. He then met up with pop princess Kelly Clarkson in the aisle, and he acted like a true gentleman as he escorted her up the stairs to the podium.

“I gotta thank the songwriters, Andy Gibson, Paul Jenkins and Jason Sellers, for writing an amazing song,” Aldean said as he accepted the ACM award. “This is my producer Michale Knox and I [told him that I] thought [the song] kinda needed a female vocal on it, and Kelly was the first name I threw out and I’m really glad I did… She took it to a new place.”

Texas native and ‘Stronger’ hitmaker Clarkson looked stunning in red as she gushed, “Thank y’all so much. Thank you so much for welcoming me from the pop world!”
