Just a few minutes after winning the award for Pop Vocal Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards, pop star-turned-country singer Kelly Clarkson sang a stellar tribute to Patti Page and Carole King -- turning in the standout vocal performance of the night.

Page passed away on Jan. 1 at the age of 85. She was the most successful singer of the '50s, selling 100 million records, but her best-known track was 'Tennessee Waltz,' which Clarkson performed Sunday night (Feb. 10) in a very strong rendition that would have done Page proud.

King is one of the most influential female singer-songwriters of all time, and Clarkson gave her the nod with a stellar '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman' that put the lie to the notion that awards show performances have to suck.

Clarkson's performance was a bit of a surprise -- she had been rumored to pay tribute to Page and King by singing ‘How Much Is That Doggie in the Window’ and ‘I Feel the Earth Move.'
