Local Food Critic Ed Hitzel Dies

A beloved South Jersey Food Critic has passed away.

Ed Hitzel died Monday night after collapsing while dining with friends at a restaurant in Hammonton.

The long time food critic hosted a radio show on local radio station, WOND-AM. He described himself on his Facebook page as "Food lover. Food Critic. Foodie. Food, New Jersey has glorious food!"

According to The Press of Atlantic City, Hitzel at one time served as the Editor of the newspaper. "After leaving The Press in the early 1990s, he became editor of his own publication, Ed Hitzel’s Restaurant Magazine."
