One lucky person from South Carolina woke up $1.586 billion richer this morning. The final total came to just under the projected $1.6 billion. 36 other people woke up to being $1 million richer. While those 37 people are mostly likely elated this morning, the rest of the country is wallowing in a collective misery. What's that phrase? Misery loves company. This is especially true this morning.

The winning numbers were 5-28-62-65-70 with the Mega Ball being:5. According to Chicago ABC, "South Carolina is one of eight states - along with Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas - where winners can remain anonymous." Lucky for the winner in South Carolina, they might never have to experience to media attention that plagues many past winners.

Social media woke up quite bitter this morning. Granted, comments on social media are usually bitter. However, this morning in particular was exceptionally bitter, with people lying through their teeth or rather their keyboard.

There are many people on social media that think it's ridiculous that it was only one winner and that it should've been more than one.

Let's call out these people for a second here. If they won that jackpot, I would take a safe bet by saying they would be singing a different tune. Some people on social media realized this trend in the comments and called these people out.

Then, there are the super cynics out there that comment things like this:

Can we just put our big boy/big girl pants on and move on? There is no reason to whine about losing. Stop being a sore loser and just accept the fact that "...[T]he odds of winning were 1 in 302,575,350," according to the Washington Post. Congratulations to the South Carolina winner, enjoy it.
