The Atlantic City bomb squad was called out to Lower Township on Saturday to investigate a live explosive found in a backyard.

A man was digging in his backyard on the 200 block of West Bates Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township when he discovered what he suspected to be a live cannonball.

According to the Press of Atlantic City,

"The device was described as being approximately five inches in circumference with a brass cap on it. It was stamped, “4k, 85mm”, according to police.

The Atlantic City Police Bomb Squad removed the cannonball and detonated it in an unpopulated area."
