According to The Press of Atlantic City, a 15-year-old student was arrested at Mainland Regional High School in Linwood after a text message caused a false public alarm.

Police said a report was circulating around Mainland Regional High School, via a text message, that there was going to be a shooting at the school on Friday. An investigation resulted in a 15-year-old student being arrested and charged with false public alarm.

Superintendent Tom Baruffi told The Press of Atlantic City students often don’t realize that something in writing, even in the world of social media, can create a lot of chaos. “We have no choice but to investigate and make sure it stops. Any message that cane be construed as a threat to students” will be investigated. “There was no danger,” Baruffi said.
