Mays Landing Man Arrested for Alleged Child Luring Incident
A man from Mays Landing is in trouble with the law after cops say he attempted to lure a child in Hamilton Township Monday morning.
Hamilton Township Police say they responded to the area of Pinehurst Avenue and Berry Drive in the Cloverleaf development around 11:30 Monday morning for the report of a possible child luring incident. Authorities say a caller advised them that a silver Subaru Forrester, driven by a white male with dark black hair, approached an 11-year-old girl while she was walking down the street. The suspect asked the girl if she needed a ride and for her phone number, at which point she ran to a neighbor’s house.
While officers were responding to the incident, they located the suspect vehicle, which was being driven by 35-year-old Talal Aridi of Mays Landing. Aridi was taken to the police station, interviewed by detectives, and charged with 2nd degree luring.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Screening Unit was contacted and advised to place the charges against Aridi on a summons, per Criminal Justice Reform. Aridi was released pending court.
