As we all know -- especially after last night -- weather forecasting is not an exact science and meteorologists are now apologizing for blowing the forecast for yesterday's blizzard.

Gary Szatkowski is one of the great meteorologists who works at the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly. Of course, it is this agency that lots of government officials and state agencies look to for guidance when a major weather event is headed our way. And it was the National Weather Service -- along with every other major weather forecasting service -- that called for a ton of snow... that forecast caused the governor to ban overnight travel, schools to close, and other inconveniences. Gary took to Twitter this morning and apologized for blowing the call...

Even our own meteorologist, Dan Zarrow, passed along his apologies...

I sincerely apologize for letting you down, New Jersey.

The good news is the weather for the rest of the week appears to be much less stomach-turning with no big snow storms in sight.
