Michelle Obama Getting Help from NJ Students
Schoolchildren from New Jersey shore communities battered by Superstorm Sandy will join Michelle Obama for a garden harvest next week.
The White House says the first lady will also be joined Tuesday by students who helped plant the crops last month.
The New Jersey students are from Union Beach Memorial School in Union Beach and Long Beach Island Grade School in Ship Bottom. Both schools were damaged in last October’s storm. Both also teach their students about healthy eating, which is one of the first lady’s causes.
The students who helped plant lettuce, broccoli and various other crops in April came from Milton, Vt., Knox County, Tenn., and Somerville, Mass.
Mrs. Obama planted the garden in 2009 to help launch her campaign against childhood obesity and to encourage healthier eating.
