Country singer Mindy McCready has apparently taken her own life. She was 37. The Cleburne County, AR, Sheriff's Office has issued a press release regarding the matter.

WSMV-TV in Nashville is reporting Cleburne County Sheriff's deputies in Arkansas confirm they have found the body of Mindy McCready inside her home. They were called to her house around 3:00 Sunday afternoon. They say it appears McCready died from a single gun shot wound.

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release about the death of Mindy McCready:

At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs.

Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase.

Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At this time family members have been notified of the incident.

Ms. McCready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated.

The last few weeks of Mindy McCready's life were filled with grief and tragedy, beginning last month when her boyfriend and the father to her youngest son was found dead. That was first thought to be a suicide, but officials later suggested they weren't sure about the cause of his death. Mindy McCready denied any involvement in David Wilson's death.
