New Jersey is the Worst Place to be Single
As if being single isn't tough already with cute posts by couples on social media being shoved in your face, now it has been scientifically proven it's worse in New Jersey.
Maybe scientifically is a bit of an exaggeration, but mathematically it is.
The website WalletHub.com calculated which cities in the U.S. are the worst to be single in. Here in New Jersey we have two of those cities. Lucky us.
The website "compared 182 cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state." They looked at three main areas to compare the cities with: economics, fun and recreation, and dating opportunities. The site broke those three categories into sub categories with a point scale.
Under economics they looked at things like: average monthly gym fee, rate of job growth, beer and wine prices, housing costs, cost of going to the movies, and a bunch more. The economics' score was out of 25.
Under fun and recreation they looked at things like: restaurants per capita, weather, spas per capita, shopping options per capita, number of attractions, and many more. The fun and recreation's score was out of 25.
Finally, for dating opportunities they looked at: online dating opportunities, active Tinder users, single population, gender balance in singles, and more. Dating opportunities' score was out of 50.
In New Jersey, Jersey City (51.54 total points) came in at 73 out of 182 and Newark (50.14 total points) came in at 94 out of 182. These were the only two cities ranked.
The top 5 cities to live in if you are single are: San Francisco CA, Atlanta GA, Los Angeles CA, Denver CO, and San Diego CA.
Some other interesting finds from the study showed that Detroit, Michigan has the highest percentage of singles, Newark is in the bottom five for dating opportunities, and Port St. Lucie, Florida has the lowest movie costs.
So if you are single living in New Jersey, it isn't your fault! It's statistically not your fault.
