TOMS RIVER — Police are asking the public’s help in bringing a disbarred attorney to justice after accusing him of running brothels in two Ocean County neighborhoods.

James M. O’Brien, 59, of Berkeley, is wanted on charges of promoting prostitution out of the Redwoods Wellness Center on Lakehurst Road, in Toms River, and out of a private residence on Edgebrook Drive North in Berkeley.

Police on Jan. 4 arrested Nina X. Meng, 56, the owner and proprietor of the supposed massage parlor, and charged her with the same crime.

Police said Thursday that “attempts to have Mr. O’Brien surrender himself have not come to fruition.”

Township police said the charges came after a four-month investigation into the business, after it was suspected of soliciting prostitution.

An online ad for the business on a website advertising escort and erotic services in the state promises “amazing asian massage … enjoy four hands sweet massage … friendly and warm service” for $60 an hour or $100 an hour for four hands.

Anyone with information about O’Brien’s location, or any employees of the business are asked to call Det. Thomas Grosse at 732-349-0150.
